What’s In Your Nail Polish?

What’s In Your Nail Polish?

Most of us were incredibly busy in the lead up to Christmas and during the festive period, whether it was attending fun parties, organising family gatherings and/or running around our local high streets to find last minute presents for loved ones. We understand that during this time most of us tend to grab the most convenient and accessible beauty products (especially nail polish) on the market; however many large international corporate companies tend to fill their goods with highly unnatural chemicals. This leads us to ask; Do you really know what’s in your nail polish?

Converting to toxic free cosmetics is rapidly becoming a way of life for many people due to increasing knowledge that chemicals can be absorbed into the body when using the majority of mainstream products. Many nail polish products contain toxins which are linked to cancer and skin irritations, as well as having other side effects. New Year is the best time for us to detox our beauty regimes and truly understand what we are putting on to our bodies; Which brings us to introduce HJ Manicure, a luxurious, boutique nail care range, created by Helen J without the use of toxins. Each nail polish is free from;

Toluene – A solvent used to improve the adhesion of colour, found in many nail polish products. Toluene can cause severe irritation to the skin, eyes and lungs. Repeated exposure is linked to more serious side effects.

Formaldehyde – A very effective preservative which is also a known human carcinogen and is linked to the irritation of the eyes, nose and throat. As well as being linked to skin irritation and dermatitis.

Di-butyl phthalate (DBP) – Developmental and reproductive toxin.

Formaldehyde Resin – A nail strengthener which is a skin allergen and can remain active for up to 3 days after the nail polish has dried. No link to cancer has been established but it can be linked to dermatitis.

Camphor – A natural ingredient which is found in aromatherapy. Exposure in large doses, especially through inhalation can be linked to irritation, nausea, dizziness and headaches.

By leaving out these toxins, the quality of HJ Manicure polish is not compromised and offers a professional quality, 5-Free alternative.

These Cruelty Free and Vegan Friendly 15ml polishes come in a core range of colours, consisting of pastel and nude tones, all the way to sultry and dark shades that are suitable for every type of occasion. HJ Manicure polish is easy to apply, quick drying, long lasting, low odour & has a professional quality formula. HJ Manicure are religiously following the latest trends and 4 new Winter shimmer polish shades inspired by AW14 have been added to the range. Just because the long, dreary nights have officially drawn in, it doesn’t mean we have to dull our nails down too!
